Round Table Discussion in NYC
Jan 2007
iUniverse President Susan Driscoll invited myself, plus top selling author Ron Donaghe to NYC for a round table discussion about how to best market to the gay and lesbian community. Mark Roeder was there, too, but alas, I have no picture of him this time. (See below for a pic of him from a few years ago.) Turns out that iUniverse is the publisher of choice for gay and lesbian authors. In fact, their top selling titles are in that genre. Their intent was to discover how they can best move more visibly into that market for authors and for readers. It was a real pleasure to meet Ron in person (finally!) after all these years, and to have Susan invite us.
Q-Trading Company, Palm Springs, CA

Nice. A bookstore not far from where the debut novel and the sequel take place.
Outwords Books Gifts and Coffee
October 2003

Author Trebor Healey from LA accompanied me as we discussed our books and read from them on October 15th at Outwords Books Gifts and Coffee in Milwaukee. Thanks to Carl, who hosted us. The crowd was great, the venue was cozy, and the coffee was excellent. Trebor featured his lyrical debut novel entitled Through It Came Bright Colors. Good luck to him as he kicks off his public writing career. Thanks to Joel B. who took these photos.
Gerber/Hart Library
September 2003

Three Midwestern authors. Fourteen published books. Four bestsellers. That's what we showcased at the Gerber/Hart Library to a small audience. A special thanks goes out to Doug Kendrick who flew all the way from Southern California to be with us and get his copies of our novels signed!
What is the Gerber/Hart Library? It's one of the nation's largest repositories of GLBT culture, which includes over 14,000 volumes in a lending library (for members), magazines, papers, videos, music, etc. The library is located at 1127 W. Granville Av. in the Edgewater neighborhood.
Unabridged Bookstore Book Club
June 2002

I was invited to speak at the book club at Unabridged Books in Chicago. Desert Sons was selected as the book to discuss (the club members read it beforehand). What a great time! I got wonderful critical feedback. Thanks to all of you who participated.

My first book placement in a brick and mortar store.
(The books were still in their original covers before I became an iUniverse Star Author.)
